Hope's 4th Birthday

For Hope's fourth birthday, she was on the Dora the Explorer kick! I wasn't quite confident in my decorating abilities to actually decorate Dora's face, so I went online to see what else I could find. I found a basic concept for the "mountains" and a "bridge," and since Hope loved Diego, too, it worked out perfectly! We made the mountain cakes with the Pampered Chef large glass bowls and the bridge was made with spray-painted popcicle sticks.

Since making this cake, I've realized you can't use colored paper under it...the icing starts to melt just slightly and the butter makes grease stains. Live and learn. At least the river was pretty cool! This was before they made the aerosol spray color for cakes and cake boards. Now I use that and it works out much better!
